Ipreo Global ECM Review: The Week Ended September 19, 2014

In U.S. economic news, the PPI posted a flat reading in August, meeting estimates, while the core PPI edged up 0.1%, matching expectations. Separately, initial claims for the week ended September 13 came in at 280,000, down from an upwardly-revised 316,000 in the prior period and beating economists’ estimates of 305,000. Elsewhere, Eurozone inflation remained unchanged at 0.4% in August, above estimates of a 0.3% rate for the month. Finally, South Korea’s leading index declined 1.1% month-over-month in July following the 0.1% rise in June with the largest negative contribution coming from letter of credit arrivals.
