In U.S. economic news, the current account balance was reported as -$109.7B, rising from the downwardly-revised -$118.3B seen in the prior quarter, and above economists’ estimates of $-112.2B. Elsewhere, UK retail sales increased 0,2% month-over-month in August, after a flat reading in the prior month. Finally, Hong Kong’s jobless rate for the June to August period came in with a seasonally adjusted rate of 3.3% and matched both the consensus estimate and the previous May to July period.
