In U.S. economic news, personal income for April rose 0.4%, matching both the prior-period’s rise and forecasts of 0.4%, while personal spending jumped 1.0% during the month, surpassing March’s downwardly-revised flat reading and expectations of 0.7%. Elsewhere, Hungary’s April retail sales increased a calendar-adjusted 6.4% year-over-year, above both March’s 4.3% increase and economists’ estimates of 5.0%. Finally, Japan’s services PMI grew to 50.4 in May from 49.3 in April, while the composite PMI rose to 49.2 from 48.9 in the prior month.
