A Recap of the Fixed Income Leaders Summit

For the third year in a row, Ipreo has participated in the Fixed Income Leaders Summit in Amsterdam on November 7-9.  The conference was attended by more than 800 fixed income leaders and was filled with topics focused on preparing for the impending MiFID II, as well as material on the consistent need for efficiency in the fixed income markets.

Ipreo’s booth attracted a consistent flow of diverse market participants, with visits ranging from casual hellos from those who’ve worked with us for more than a decade, to inquisitive discussions on how to join in on Investor Access, our innovative suite of integrated tools and services that help optimize buy-side participation in the new-issue process. Ipreo’s Herb Werth, Managing Director, Product, Strategy and Marketing, led an interactive workshop with several heads of buy-side to discuss the challenges they face in the primary market space, and to offer their thoughts on potential solutions to those problems. The workshop received a great response, resulting in the discussion of a number of key themes. Buy-side folks came away with the understanding that they can have a seat at the table and voice their concerns, opinions and suggestions.

Our own Head of Market Structure and Strategy, Stephen Grady, spoke on a panel in Day 1, discussing his transition from Global Head of Trading at Legal and General and touching on views from both sides. He went on to join a fireside chat about how the EU new issuance market changed in 2017 and the trending concerns in streamlining the new issuance life-cycle.

The top concern on that front? Speed. From the velocity of which deals move through the process to the speed with which books come together. Secondary markets have seen rapid increases in applications and technology, and have reaped the benefits in market evolution. It’s a natural extension for the market to now focus on bringing the same efficiency to primary markets for investors.

Ipreo was delighted to be a part of such a robust and informative conference, and we are dedicated to providing a powerful suite of services designed to facilitate the buy-side investment process and connectivity with the sell side. Learn more about our Investor Access initiative.
