On a monthly basis, Ipreo leverages our industry relationships to get insight into the issues that impact the industry.
With our Hot Topic series, regularly survey buy-side analysts and portfolio managers for their feedback on a variety of topics affecting the financial and investment communities, and we share that feedback here.
As part of a new initiative, Ipreo’s perception team recently began reaching out to gather investor sentiment on the markets. Specifically, we asked: “Are you bullish, bearish or neutral on the Financial sector over the next year, and what factors do you see driving the space?”
The document includes a quantitative analysis with some commentary summarizing the monthly feedback, including charts and graphs that display the historical shift in investor responses and overall sentiment within the sector through our perception process. We’ve also included the feedback from our June survey, with responses from analysts and portfolio managers covering insurance, banks, asset managers etc.
“Of note, regulation was the leading factor driving investors’ view of the Financials shortly after the election, while interest rates have started to become the top driver, similarly to a year ago. Thus far in 2017, regulation, valuation, interest rates and the macro environment have largely been at the forefront for reasons behind the positive sentiment on the space.”
